Activities
- Develop crop profiles to assist EPA.
- Conduct pesticide use
surveys to provide data for FQPA (Food Quality Protection Act).
- Collect and provide data on types, quantities, and rates ofpesticides and pesticidal
alternatives used.
- Collect and provide information on percent acres treated,number of
applications, availability and efficacy of chemicaland nonchemical alternatives.
- Determine how existing and new federal pesticide or environmentalregulations affect growers.
- Provide education and information on pesticide toxicologyand safety.
- Support research designed to study benefits of pesticidesor pesticidal alternatives.
- Provide pesticide registration, site-use and reregistrationinformation.
- Address minor use pesticide issues.
- Network with state agencies, industry representatives, crop/vegetable growers,
grower associations, extension specialists and the public.
- Maintain a comprehensive county level pesticide use databasefor each crop/commodity.
- Update the database annually.
- Develop an interactive system to allow county agents,
growers,crop consultants, and others to interactively access the databaseto obtain pesticide
use data pertinent to their needs.
